Eleven folks from St. John’s joined over 500 Episcopalians and several thousand others to walk through Dorchester on Sunday as part of the 17th Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace. Cloudy skies and some rain did not discourage any of the marchers. After the march, many from the Diocese of Massachusetts gathered to celebrate the Eucharist with Bishop Tom Shaw, Bishop Gayle Harris, and Bishop Barbara Harris. Myrna Fuentes, mother of Jorge Fuentes, spoke movingly of her son’s death from a driveby shooting last September in Dorchester, and of the efforts of her church, St. Stephen’s, and the diocese to address the issue of gun violence in our city.
