Our Harvest Fair chairpersons, Whitney Hayden and Adrienne Sweetser, recently received this letter of thanks from Colin Johnstone, a member of All Saints in Brookline who helps coordinate diocesan mission efforts in Tanzania.
Dear Whitney and Adrienne,
It was an unexpected but wonderful surprise to receive the gift of $500 from the funds raised at the most recent St. John’s Harvest Fair. The gift will be added to the Building Fund for the nursery school in Kizara named after the late Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE. This will be a wonderful tribute to our late beloved Bishop Tom and one which he knew about before he died and for which ex expressed deep gratitude. Kizara village and the Anglican Parish of St. Francis Xavier sits in the Easter Usambara mountains – a beautiful place- on the edges of the Rilo Forest Reserve: one of the last ancient rain forests in the world.
The gift will go a long way to enabling us to not only finish the building but also to add bathrooms (with flush toilets and clean drinking water) and a playground. I am hoping to be able to go to Kizara next September to attend the official opening.
With best wishes and in gratitude,
Colin Johnstone
