Carol Sing on December 21

St. John’s welcomes friends from throughout the community to join us for a Carol Sing on Saturday, December 21st at 5 pm. With the church adorned with greens and candlelight, we’ll gather to sing carols of Advent and Christmas, with poetry and readings of the season accompanying our songs. Children are most welcome at this event, which will be followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall.

Plans Being Made for Confirmation Class

We invite juniors and seniors in high school to join us on Sunday, December 8th after church for lunch. Emily Garcia, our Parish Intern, Tom Mousin our rector, and Sarabinh Levy-Brightman will be discussing plans for a confirmation class starting in January, and they look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas for what the class will look like. Do let the church office know if you or someone you know plans to attend. Thanks!

An Important New Way to Give at St. John’s

St. John’s is happy to announce our new brokerage account which allows St. John’s to accept the gift of securities. Donating appreciated securities (stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares) to St. John’s can be done easily and may entitle you to tax advantages. You may be entitled to a charitable deduction on the fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift, and you may also avoid incurring capital gains tax on the appreciation. (Of course, you should consult with your tax advisor to understand how this deduction works.)  To make a donation, please call the St. John’s office, or contact your brokerage firm and let them know that they can deliver shares through DTC (Depository Trust Company) to Merrill Lynch, DTC #5198, referencing the St. John’s Episcopal Church account #5YF-02019. For questions, please contact Chris Hayden at (978) 921-6735.
